Hey there! I’m Jessica, an author and writer of memoir, horror fiction, personal essays, and poetry. I write about identity, belonging, independence, creativity, and the strange and beautiful spaces in between. My work often explores the questions we don’t always know how to name and the stories that help us feel a little less alone in asking them. And sometimes, my stories are just a bloody good time.
I discovered I was asexual in 2020, after hearing the word on a rewatch of the Joel McHale-led NBC comedy, Community. What started as a single moment of recognition became a path toward deeper self-understanding, compassion, and a more authentic life. My forthcoming memoir, (A)sexual Liberation (June 2027; Third Rail Press), explores that journey alongside the many ways we are shaped by expectations and what it means to choose a different path.
When I’m not writing, you can usually find me with a journal nearby, practicing yoga, browsing a book or thrift store, and rewatching a favorite horror film or show for the 100th time.
I’m endlessly curious about people, places, and the stories that connect us.
Why I writeI write because stories stay with us.
They shape how we see ourselves, each other, and the world. I’m drawn to spaces where people are figuring out who they are and what life they want to build. I capture these feelings through my own experiences or while imagining darker worlds. I’m interested in the messy middle, the questioning, the quiet moments, and the bravery it takes to be honest. I believe stories can create understanding, open doors, and make the world a little kinder, even when it’s scary.
There’s beauty in the in-between.
